There already are different types of pool chair lifts available for sale in most economically privileged countries. (Some examples of this are Spectrum Aquatics in the U.S. and Luisianeras S.L. in Spain.) However, in developing countries, this technology is hard to come by unless imported.
This project proposes the design a free and public manual to instruct its readers in the construction of a chair lift powered by hand or hose (similar to those available in Europe and the U.S.) The assumption being made is that such a manual will allow institutions in developing countries to hire local mechanics or engineers to build pool chair lifts that are more suitable to their needs and at a more affordable cost.
