Fuller's earth
Main Discussion Members Files
[edit][history][add page]
Fuller's earth is used to clean all types of chemical spills (including toxic materials), to soak-up grease and oils (for example the oils leaking out of heavy machinery that could otherwise make it into some water way) and in kitty litter. The problem is that the processed version of these materials is fairly expensive in most third world countries despite them commonly being fairly cheap in industrialized countries. It has been said that the reason for this is that in non-industrialized countries the Fuller's earth has to be imported, thus, increasing its cost. Developing a method of micro manufacture of these material can result in a means by which less wealthy societies can provide themselves with an indispensable tool for preventing and cleaning contamination.
